YZ250 (2003-2005) – electric starter kit

Description

*Note that the charging version of YZ250 starter kit is out of stock and will be available again early 2025.
This Yamaha YZ250 electric starter kit is available in charging and non-charging version:
– the charging version with it 90W charging system replace the stock stator and flywheel and will charge the battery in addition to allow accessories to be wired to the battery.
– the non-charging version will use the OEM flywheel and will start around 200 times before needing a charge (when using Antigravity 801 battery).

Recommended batteries are: Antigravity SC-1 (4 cells) or 801 (8 cells)

The complete kit with lithium battery will add 5.7 lb

Tools required

• General mechanics tooling
• Yamaha M27x1 flywheel puller
• 4, 5 and 6mm allen drive bit
• 60-150 in-lb torque wrench
• ½ drive torque wrench

Main steps installation

1. Battery box and wiring installation.
2. Panthera stator installation (for starter kit with charging system).
3. Flywheel and main gear installation.
4. Starter housing installation.
5. Starter and battery connection.
6. Tank and seat re-install.

Maintenance

It is recommended to flush the oil after the first ride to eliminate particles generated by the gears first meshing and break in. Taking cover off to remove all particles is recommended versus only using the drain plug. On a normal basis, change the oil at the same time as transmission oil.
